G 500 Edition Stronger Than The 1980s
Not everything needs to be recycled from the 80s, but Mercedes happily revived one element that doesn't bother us: the colours and style of the classic Geländewagen from the W460 series, applied to the structure of the new Classe G. Officially, it's called [take a deep breath and shout] Mercedes-Benz Classe G Edition STRONGER THAN THE 1980s. And although we have no idea why Mercedes felt the need to shout this name from the rooftops, it's quite pleasant. M Benz G500 (with a six-cylinder in-line 3.0-litre petrol engine, and 440 hp). Both pay homage to the W460 with exterior paint in solid agave green or solid Colorado beige, orange turn signal indicators and matte black finish on the grille, wheel arches and mirror caps. Other details include references to Schöckl mountain – where the Classe G was tested – both on the door sill and on an emblem. And, of course, the very important inscription "1 of 460".
